SB2197 prohibits fees for sex offender, arsonist, and violent offender against youth registration in Illinois.

SB2197 amends the Arsonist Registry Act, the Sex Offender Registration Act, and the Murderer and Violent Offender Against Youth Registration Act to prohibit any law enforcement agency from imposing a fee for registration on any person subject to these Acts. The bill specifies that the Illinois State Police, or any other law enforcement or registering agency, shall not charge a fee for registration. It also mandates that the Illinois State Police must have the Statewide Arsonist Database created and ready to comply with the requirements of the Act by July 1, 2025.
