Specifically, it prohibits health insurance issuers from requiring prior authorization for medications prescribed for multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, diabetes type 1, diabetes type 2, or pre-diabetes if the patient has been managed with an established treatment regimen for at least 12 months. This provision does not apply to benzodiazepines or Schedule II narcotic drugs.
