SB2121

SB2121 regulates the collection and processing of location information by entities in Illinois, ensuring privacy protections and consent requirements.

SB2121, the Privacy Protections for Location Information Derived from Electronic Devices Act, mandates that entities must provide individuals with a copy of their location privacy policy and obtain consent before collecting or processing location information. It outlines permissible purposes for such actions, including providing products or services, complying with laws, or responding to emergencies. The bill prohibits entities from collecting excessive data, retaining it longer than necessary, or selling it to third parties.
