Illinois SB1997 amends the Illinois Act on the Aging and the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities Act to increase wages for direct service workers, including personal assistants and individual maintenance home health workers. The bill mandates that, subject to federal approval, the hourly wage for these workers will be increased to sustain a minimum wage of $30 per hour starting January 1, 2026.
