Prevents real estate lessors from using service providers to fix rental prices.
The Preventing Algorithmic Rent Fixing in the Rental Housing Market Act prohibits real estate lessors from using service providers to fix rental prices. It also bans agreements between lessors to not compete on rental prices. The act allows the Attorney General or a State's Attorney to bring a civil action on behalf of injured parties, seeking compensatory, injunctive, and declaratory relief. Violations are considered unlawful practices under the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act.
