Illinois SB1943 amends the School Code to restrict the use of physical, mechanical, and chemical restraints, and prone restraint in schools. It prohibits the use of prone restraint except under specific conditions outlined in a student's Behavior Intervention Plan. The bill also mandates that any use of isolated time out, time out, or physical restraint must be in accordance with written procedures and that staff members must be trained in non-violent intervention.
