The Emergency Co-Response Grant Act creates a grant program to support law enforcement departments in establishing co-response units. These units feature specially trained teams, including at least one law enforcement officer and one clinician or trained civilian, dispatched to emergency calls involving behavioral health crises. The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority will manage the Emergency Co-Response Grant Fund, providing grants for co-response unit planning, implementation, staffing, facilities, operational costs, consulting services, and staff training.
