Illinois SB1820 mandates that the Condominium and Common Interest Community Ombudsperson mediates or arbitrates disputes in condominium associations.

Illinois SB1820 amends the Condominium Property Act to require the Condominium and Common Interest Community Ombudsperson to act as the mediator or arbitrator for any mediation or arbitration done under the Act. The act governs all mediations and arbitrations proceeding under this Section. The Illinois Uniform Arbitration Act governs all arbitrations proceeding under this Section. The association may require the disputants to bear the costs of mediation or arbitration.
