Illinois SB1669 regulates pet fees and pet rent for tenants, limiting fees and rents and prohibiting charges for assistance animals.

Illinois SB1669 amends the Landlord Tenant Act to define and regulate pet fees and pet rent. It allows landlords to charge either a one-time pet fee or recurring pet rent, but not both. The bill caps pet fees at $500 and pet rent at $25 for small animals and $50 for large animals. It prohibits landlords from charging fees or rent for assistance animals. The Act does not require landlords to charge any fees or rent.
