SB1666 amends the Illinois Human Rights Act to prohibit employers, employment agencies, labor organizations, financial institutions, and public officials from using criteria or methods that cause discrimination based on unlawful grounds. This includes discrimination in employment, financial services, and public accommodations. The bill allows such criteria or methods only if they are necessary to achieve a substantial, legitimate, nondiscriminatory interest or if no less discriminatory practice can serve that interest.
