Illinois SB1616 amends the School Code to require the State Board of Education to identify days when students might be absent from major school events due to cultural, religious, or other observances. By February 1 each year, the State Board must post and distribute a nonexhaustive list of these days to school districts, regional offices of education, the Department of Early Childhood, the Board of Higher Education, the Illinois High School Association, and other relevant entities.
