Introduced·2/4/25
Introduced Text

Illinois SB1544 amends the Wildlife Code to establish deer management plans considering economic damage and public safety.

Illinois SB1544 amends the Wildlife Code to require the Department of Natural Resources to consider economic damage and public safety when establishing deer management plans. These plans include the length of seasons and bag and possession limits. The bill also allows unused gun deer permits from a regular season to be rolled over for use in a separate harvest period within six months at no additional cost. It mandates the Department to announce season dates and shooting hours via statewide news release and to publish rules and regulations for deer management.
