SB1538 expands the definition of renewable energy facilities to include small modular reactors.

SB1538 amends the Renewable Energy Production District Act by updating the definition of "renewable energy facility" to include small modular reactors. These reactors are advanced nuclear reactors with a capacity of 300 megawatts or less, designed to be constructed and operated in combination with similar reactors at a single site. The bill also defines "small modular reactor" and takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
