Illinois SB1531, known as the Disposable Food Service Container Act, prohibits the sale and distribution of disposable food service containers made of polystyrene foam starting January 1, 2030. This prohibition does not apply to activities authorized by local ordinances or resolutions adopted before January 1, 2024, or sales to local government units for internal operations.
