SB1528

MUNI CD-ALDERPERSON ELECTION

Introduced·2/4/25
Introduced Text

Illinois SB1528 allows municipalities with populations between 100,000 and 1,000,000 to elect two additional at-large alderpersons.

Illinois SB1528 amends the Illinois Municipal Code to allow municipalities with populations between 100,000 and 1,000,000 to elect two additional at-large alderpersons. This applies to municipalities that have not adopted a ward system prior to the effective date of the amendatory Act. Alderpersons in these municipalities must still be elected by ward. The bill aims to provide more representation options for larger municipalities without a ward system.
