SB1458 amends the Firearm Concealed Carry Act to require concealed carry licensees to store firearms in secure containers when leaving vehicles.

SB1458 amends the Firearm Concealed Carry Act by requiring concealed carry licensees to store their firearms out of plain view in secure containers when leaving their vehicles unattended. The containers must be lockable and resistant to fire, impact, and tampering. Glove compartments, glove boxes, and center consoles do not qualify as secure containers. Failure to comply with this requirement is a Class A misdemeanor for the first or second violation and a Class 4 felony for subsequent violations.
