Illinois SB1457 regulates the siting and operation of commercial wind and solar energy facilities in counties.

Illinois SB1457 establishes standards for counties to regulate commercial wind and solar energy facilities. Counties can set standards for facility siting, including setback distances from buildings and properties. Counties must hold public hearings for facility applications and cannot set sound limitations more restrictive than state regulations. Counties cannot require property value guarantees or neighboring property devaluation escrow accounts. Counties can require vegetative screening but not earthen berms.
