A public employer that repeatedly violates safety laws may face a penalty of up to $10,000 per violation. For willful violations, the penalty can be up to $70,000 per violation. The Director must notify employers of proposed penalties within five days of issuing a citation. Penalties collected are deposited into the state's General Revenue Fund.
