Illinois SB1404 establishes an access to nutritious food program in food deserts.

Illinois SB1404 amends the Department of Agriculture Law to create an access to nutritious food program. This program will establish and operate projects and strategies in food deserts, focusing on the distribution of fresh and nutritious food and education in food preparation and nutrition. The Department of Agriculture will promote the sharing of best practices and convene annual meetings with nonprofit organizations and other interested parties to share information on effective programs.
