SB1334

Lowers the minimum age for applying for a Firearm Owner's Identification Card from 21 to 18.

The bill amends the Firearm Owners Identification Card Act to lower the minimum age for applying for a Firearm Owner's Identification Card from 21 to 18. Applicants under 21 must provide written consent from a parent or legal guardian and must not have been convicted of a misdemeanor other than a traffic offense or adjudged delinquent. The bill also mandates that applicants submit their fingerprints for a criminal history check. The Illinois State Police will research and report on the feasibility of using voluntarily submitted fingerprints for identification card enforcement.
