Illinois SB1295 amends the Illinois State Police Law to require 9-1-1 telecommunicators to be trained in high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and handling sexual assault calls. Starting January 1, 2026, all 9-1-1 telecommunicators must complete training using the most current nationally recognized emergency cardiovascular care guidelines. The Office of the Statewide 9-1-1 Administrator will develop guidelines for trauma-informed, victim-centered handling of sexual assault calls. Newly hired telecommunicators must complete sexual assault and sexual abuse training within one year.
