Illinois SB1275 amends the Public Utilities Act to exclude certain expenses from utility rate determinations. The Illinois Commerce Commission will not consider political contributions, lobbying efforts, or director and officer liability insurance as expenses when setting utility rates. Additionally, the bill mandates that the Commission hold public hearings for any general rate increase requests by gas, electric, water, or sewer utility companies.
