Illinois SB1247 amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to authorize the Secretary of State to issue special registration plates to volunteer firefighters. These plates can be affixed to vehicles owned by the fire department or by volunteer firefighters. The fee for these plates is set at the same rate as for standard plates for first division vehicles. The design and color of the plates are left to the discretion of the Secretary, and they do not need to include the "Land of Lincoln" designation. The plates expire according to the multi-year procedure established by Section 3-414.1.
