Illinois SB1246 waives vehicle registration fees for veterans with service-connected disabilities and active-duty military stationed abroad.

Illinois SB1246 amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to waive standard registration fees for passenger motor vehicles and certain second division vehicles for veterans with service-connected disabilities. It also waives fees for active-duty military stationed abroad for 90 days or longer and reduces fees by 50% for those who served in combat missions. The bill applies to vehicles weighing not more than 8,000 pounds registered under specific sections of the Code.
