Ensures nonopioid medications are not disadvantaged in coverage or cost-sharing compared to opioids.
Prohibits health insurance issuers from denying coverage of nonopioid prescription drugs in favor of opioids or requiring patients to try opioids before covering nonopioids. Requires the Department of Public Health to publish an educational pamphlet on nonopioid alternatives for pain management. Ensures nonopioid drugs are not disadvantaged in coverage or cost-sharing relative to opioids. Effective July 1, 2027.
