SB1185

Illinois SB1185 ensures policemen denied reinstatement due to disability are entitled to disability benefits.

Illinois SB1185 amends the Illinois Pension Code to guarantee that policemen who apply for disability benefits and are denied reinstatement by their employer due to physical or mental incapacity are presumed disabled. The bill stipulates that policemen cannot be denied disability benefits unless their employer reinstates them or offers a limited-duty position. It also entitles policemen denied benefits without such offers to disability benefits. The Act takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
