Illinois SB0226 amends the Freedom of Information Act to mandate that public bodies maintain and make available a reasonably current list of all types or categories of records under their control. This list must include the identification and a plain-text description of each field of each database to aid individuals in accessing public records. Additionally, public bodies must provide a sufficient description of database structures to allow requesters to perform specific queries, even if they lack knowledge of computer language or printout formats.
