SB0180

JUDGESHIPS-6TH JUD CIRCUIT

Introduced·1/17/25
Introduced Text

SB0180 converts at-large judgeships in the 6th judicial circuit to resident judgeships for Champaign or Macon County.

SB0180 amends the Circuit Courts Act to change the 6th judicial circuit's at-large judgeships to resident judgeships for Champaign or Macon County. When a vacancy occurs in an at-large judgeship, it converts to a resident judgeship based on the county where the incumbent judge resided when elected. The first vacancy converts to a Champaign County judgeship, and the next two to Macon County. This change does not entitle the circuit to additional at-large judgeships.
