HEALTH CARE AVAILABILITY

Introduced·1/13/25
Introduced Text

Establishes the Health Care Availability and Access Board to review and set upper payment limits for high-cost prescription drugs in Illinois.

The Health Care Availability and Access Board Act establishes the Health Care Availability and Access Board to protect Illinois residents and stakeholders from high prescription drug costs. The Board reviews prescription drugs with high wholesale acquisition costs or significant price increases, considering factors like affordability challenges and patient cost-sharing. The Board can set upper payment limits, which must align with the Medicare Maximum Fair Price. The Act also creates the Health Care Availability and Access Stakeholder Council to provide input.
