Illinois SB0043 amends the Illinois Century Network Act to allow the Illinois Century Network to develop an end-to-end broadband network, including middle-mile and last-mile infrastructure. The Network can build on existing investments in schools, colleges, and universities. It also removes the requirement to avoid duplication of existing communication networks if they can meet the needs of anchor institutions. The Department of Innovation and Technology must review the Network by July 1, 2019.
