The Illinois House of Representatives expresses sorrow over the death of Clarence Thomas, a dedicated public servant and community advocate. Born in 1953, Thomas graduated from Austin High School and attended the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. He served as a supervisor for Maywood-Melrose Park-Broadview School District 89 and began his political career as a precinct captain in 1975. Thomas mentored numerous candidates and held positions as a Proviso Township trustee and board member for the Campaign For a Drug Free Westside.
