Introduced·4/17/26
Introduced Text

Illinois HJRCA0027 proposes a constitutional amendment to change how legislative and representative districts are redistricted.

Illinois HJRCA0027 proposes a constitutional amendment to change how legislative and representative districts are redistricted. The amendment would establish a Legislative Redistricting Commission to draw districts if the General Assembly fails to do so. The commission would consist of eight members, appointed by the Speaker and Minority Leader of the House, and the President and Minority Leader of the Senate. The Supreme Court would submit two names to the Secretary of State, who would randomly select one to serve as the ninth member.
