Illinois HJRCA0019 proposes to amend the Illinois Constitution to change the quorum requirement for the General Assembly. Currently, a majority of members in each house constitutes a quorum. The amendment would require two-thirds of each house to form a quorum to conduct business. However, a smaller number could still adjourn from day to day and compel the attendance of absent members. The amendment would take effect upon being declared adopted in accordance with the Illinois Constitutional Amendment Act.
