VEHICLE REG. EFFICIENCY ACT

Introduced·5/8/26
Introduced Text

Illinois HB5767 amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to allow for multi-year vehicle and trailer registrations.

HB5767 amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to allow vehicle and trailer owners to register their vehicles for either a 2-year or a 5-year period. The Secretary of State is required to permit these multi-year registrations, which can be applied for online or by mail. The registration fee for a 5-year period is calculated based on the number of years remaining in the current 5-year cycle at the time of application. The bill also mandates that the Secretary of State provide the option to renew a 2-year registration sticker both online and in-person.
