Illinois HB5569 mandates DNA sample collection from unidentified remains and requires training for law enforcement in human remains identification.

Illinois HB5569 amends the Illinois Police Training Act by requiring the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board to conduct or approve a training program for local law enforcement officers in identifying human remains. It also amends the Missing Persons Identification Act to mandate that coroners, medical examiners, or assisting law enforcement agencies obtain a biological sample from unidentified remains and forward it to a Combined DNA Index System laboratory.
