Illinois HB5530, the Fair Online Pricing Act, establishes rules for online pricing transparency. It prohibits generating prices based on the hardware or hardware state of an online device, the presence or absence of any software on the online device, and the geolocation data of the online device. Exceptions are made for repair or maintenance, trade-in value calculations, and real-time demand-based pricing. The Act also specifies that it does not apply to coupons, discounts, or promotions that do not use the prohibited input data.
