HB5457

The Illinois Home Construction Cost Reduction Act aims to lower the cost of constructing single-family homes by limiting state-specific construction.

The Illinois Home Construction Cost Reduction Act seeks to reduce the cost of constructing single-family homes by limiting state-specific construction mandates that exceed national building safety codes, preventing unnecessary regulatory expansion, requiring clear disclosure of cost impacts, and providing fee relief for starter homes. The Act mandates that state agencies prepare housing cost impact statements before adopting new rules affecting single-family homes.
