Illinois HB5439 provides free deer hunting permits to certain landowners and tenants in counties with chronic wasting disease.

HB5439 amends the Illinois Wildlife Code to issue free deer hunting permits to Illinois residents who own or rent at least 20 acres of land in counties with chronic wasting disease. These permits include one either-sex deer permit and one antlerless-only deer permit for both firearm and archery seasons. Nonresidents owning at least 20 acres in affected counties must pay a fee. Bona fide equity shareholders, members, and partners of corporations, LLCs, and partnerships owning at least 20 acres in affected counties also qualify for free permits, with limits on the number of permits per entity.
