Illinois HB5415 amends the Criminal Code to prohibit the possession of dangerous animals and primates outside of approved facilities. Dangerous animals include lions, tigers, leopards, and other specified species. Primates include chimpanzees, gorillas, and other nonhuman members of the primate order. The bill mandates that any person found in violation is guilty of a Class C misdemeanor and subject to fines. If the violation results in severe injury or death, the fine increases to a minimum of $1,000.
