Illinois HB5401 mandates community college trustees to complete a minimum of 4 hours of leadership training, including one hour on diversity, equity.

HB5401 amends the Public Community College Act to require all voting members of community college boards of trustees to complete a minimum of 4 hours of professional development leadership training. This training must cover topics such as open meetings law, community college and labor law, freedom of information law, contract law, ethics, sexual violence on campus, financial oversight and accountability, audits, and fiduciary responsibilities. Additionally, trustees must complete at least one hour of training on diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
