The bill amends the Illinois Human Rights Act to strengthen protections against discrimination. It prohibits discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, age, sex, marital status, order of protection status, disability, military status, sexual orientation, pregnancy, reproductive health decisions, or unfavorable discharge from military service. It also prohibits the use of criteria or methods that have the effect of subjecting individuals to unlawful discrimination, unless they are necessary to achieve a substantial, legitimate, nondiscriminatory interest.
