Introduced Text

HB5332 amends the Public Safety Employee Benefits Act to modify health coverage and education benefits for public safety employees and their families.

HB5332 amends the Public Safety Employee Benefits Act to change health coverage and education benefits for public safety employees and their families. Health coverage benefits are contingent on the public safety employee being killed in the line of duty. If a firefighter, law enforcement, or correctional officer is killed in the line of duty, their surviving spouse and dependent children may be eligible for benefits. Education benefits are available for the children of deceased public safety employees, allowing them to attend state-supported institutions without tuition costs.
