Illinois HB5255 amends the Medical Assistance Article to expand coverage for sickle cell disease and other medical services.

HB5255 amends the Illinois Public Aid Code to provide medical assistance coverage for sickle cell disease, replacing the term "sickle cell anemia." It also expands coverage for various medical services, including perinatal depression screenings, cognitive assessment and care planning services, kidney transplantation for noncitizens with end-stage renal disease, HPV vaccines, and over-the-counter choline dietary supplements for pregnant persons. The bill mandates coverage for breast cancer treatment, including access to breast imaging centers and quality improvement programs.
