Introduced Text

Illinois HB5233 amends the Nurse Practice Act to redefine nursing delegation and professional practice.

HB5233 amends the Nurse Practice Act to redefine nursing delegation and professional practice. It allows registered professional nurses to delegate nursing interventions and tasks to other registered professional nurses and licensed practical nurses based on a comprehensive nursing assessment. Nurses cannot be mandated to delegate if they deem it inappropriate. The bill prohibits delegating work requiring nursing knowledge, assessment, judgment, and decision-making to unlicensed personnel.
