HB5232 amends the Chicago Firefighter Article of the Illinois Pension Code to provide occupational disease disability benefits for firefighters. It allows firefighters who have completed at least seven years of service and are unable to perform their duties due to a disabling condition caused by their service to receive a disability benefit. The bill specifies that the benefit is 65% of the firefighter's salary at the time of their removal from the Department.
