HB5224

ELECTRONIC FILING DOCUMENTS

Introduced·2/5/26
Introduced Text

Illinois HB5224 allows the use of approved electronic filing systems for civil documents, providing electronic notification of filing and service.

HB5224 amends the Code of Civil Procedure to permit the use of electronic filing systems approved by the Supreme Court of Illinois, a State agency, or a local government for filing documents. Once a document is filed through an approved system, it automatically notifies the relevant court, agency, or local government, the filer, and the served parties. This electronic notice serves as proof of both filing and service, eliminating the need for additional proof. However, for parties not served through the electronic system, proof of service must still follow existing legal requirements.
