Introduced Text

Illinois HB5213 creates the Community Housing Reintegration Fund to support housing for those transitioning from long-term care.

HB5213 establishes the Community Housing Reintegration Fund to provide housing assistance for individuals transitioning from congregate long-term care settings into less restrictive community environments. The fund will be administered by the Department of Human Services and will use federal Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program guidelines to ensure beneficiaries pay no more than 30% of their income on housing. The fund will receive proceeds from the real estate transfer tax, which increases from $0.50 to $0.75 per $500 of valuation.
