Illinois HB5167 amends the Township Code to allow township boards to cut weeds, trim trees, and maintain ponds on residential properties. The board must notify the property owner or association by certified mail, personal service, or posting a notice on the property at least 7 days in advance. The cost of these services becomes a lien on the property, superior to other liens except tax liens, if the notice is not served within 60 days. The township can also file a civil action to recover the owed amount.
