Illinois HB5093 amends in-state tuition requirements for public universities and community colleges.

HB5093 modifies in-state tuition eligibility for Illinois public universities and community colleges. It allows non-immigrant aliens to qualify for in-state tuition if they attended high school in Illinois for at least two years and plan to apply for permanent residency. Active military personnel stationed in Illinois or previously stationed there for at least three years are also eligible. The bill applies to tuition for terms or semesters starting after May 20, 2003, but before July 1, 2026.
