Illinois HB5074 amends charter school renewal criteria, emphasizing academic achievement for renewals.
HB5074 modifies the Charter Schools Law in Illinois to prioritize academic achievement as the primary metric for charter school renewals. Local school boards must grant a renewal term of at least 5 years if a charter school's average annual summative designation is in the top three on the State report card. The bill also outlines conditions for charter revocation and non-renewal, including material violations, failure to meet academic or fiscal standards, and legal violations.
